Puppy Kindergarten

Puppy Kindergarten is aimed towards your new puppy younger than 5 months old.

Early socialization is a must for every puppy. The optimum time to socialize a dog is before they reach four months of age.

Proper socialization is probably the single most important thing and owner can do to guard against serious behavior problems in the future.

This class is a lot of fun for puppies and people. While the puppies are playing, they teach other things like bite inhibition and social skills.

During Puppy Kindergarten, your puppy will learn to interact properly with people and other dogs. They also begin learning good mannners such as leash tolerance,not to jump on people, how to settle down and be introduced to basic obedience cues. This is positive motivational training.

Your puppy will begin to learn to be glad to do what you want because lots of good things happen and not that (s)he will be punished for doing the wrong things.

Basic Obedience Training

In Basic Obedience training, you will lean effective ways to communicate with your dog through positive motivational training. You will learn to enhance your relationshipwith your dog by becoming a benevolent leader. All the basic obedience cues will be taught: sit, sit & stay, down, down & stay, come, loose leash walking and heel.

I can also help with behavioral issues like jumping, barking, door bolting and house training.

Pre-registration is required. We have a registration form available in Acrobat^® format for download on the left side of this page.

General Requirements

Your dog must be up to date on all vaccinations. Proof will be required.

Locations

We currently conduct scheduled classes at Paws & Effect, Inc. in Oswego, NY.

Puppy Kindergarten every Saturday 9:00 to 10:00AM no preregistration required. Puppies must have 2 sets of vaccinations & been in your home at least 2 weeks. Cost is $10.80 (includes tax) per Saturday session.

Basic Obedience Class: Sat. Jan. 17th 10:30 to 11:30AM. Cost is $108.00 (includes tax) for the six week session. Pre-registration is required, form can be downloaded from this website. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations. Class size is limited & a $25.00 deposit is required to reserve your spot.

Our Fulton class downstairs at the Unique Hair Shoppe 114 Beech Street are scheduled as follows:

Basic Obedience class starts Thursday Jan. 15th from 6:30 to 7:30PM. Same price and participation requirements as listed for Oswego class.

Private lessons also available at both locations.
